#1 Plastic (PET) bales are sent to Chatsworth, Georgia where they are made into carpet and other fiber products by Mohawk Industries and to Madison, WI where Placon Corporation, Inc. grinds them into flakes, washes them, and produces plastic sheet for food packaging applications. Ground PET is also sold to companies that manufacture new bottles, plastic strapping, clothing, and fiberfill for jackets, insulation and more. PET bales are also sent to the west coast, where they are brokered to markets in China for production of polyester fiber.
