If you live in a single family home, a duplex, or an apartment building with up to four units, then you are provided with curbside recycling service from the City of Milwaukee. If you live in such a building and do not have a recycling cart or bin, you can call (414) 286-CITY (2489) to request one.

If you live in an apartment building with more than four units, recycling service must be provided or arranged by the property owner, who is required by ordinance to notify you in writing about how to participate in their recycling program. If your apartment building does not have a recycling program in place, you may file an anonymous complaint by calling (414) 286-CITY (2489).

City of Milwaukee residents may also take their recyclables to either one of the City’s two Self-Help Centers. Locations are: 6660 N Industrial Rd and 3879 W Lincoln Ave. The centers also accept many other items for recycling or safe disposal. For more information, including hours and a full list of materials accepted, visit www.mpw.net

Because of the many benefits of recycling, recycling is the law in Wisconsin. All properties, whether residential, commercial, or institutional, are required by State law and City ordinance to have a recycling program for use by the occupants or tenants of the buildings.
